Who are you?

Sarah Sylvester, 19 years old, born in Mass. and raised in Maine! (Forgive me for using a car selfie. but I’m more the type who prefers being BEHIND the camera, so this was one of the few good pictures I have)

I live in central Maine, which, contrary to popular belief, is actually not part of Canada.

Where do you live?

What’s your home life like?

My home life is kind of a roller coaster. We go between get-up-and-go kind of days and days where nobody really wants to go anywhere. On days like the latter, I typically go for walks, and/or head to the library.

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

For both reading and writing I tend mostly to stick to horror and fantasy, sometimes mixing the two together.

Why did you start writing?

In elementary school (particularly my fourth grade class), we did a lot of writing projects. Eventually, I started doing it on my own time as well, and it’s been a consistent hobby of mine ever since. It’s a very constructive way for me to relieve stress and express myself.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I don’t really do much else, as lame as that might sound. When I’m not working, I’m in front of a computer working on my stories.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

I like searching through bookstores and Amazon suggestions. There’s never any guarantee that I’ll find something, but it’s usually pretty good when I do.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

Depending on length, I have a ten page rule. If it hasn’t caught me by then, it’s not likely that it will. If I have nothing better to do, then I might keep reading, but I’m less likely to finish, remember details, or really be all that interested.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I’m traditionally published!

How many books/stories have you published so far?

This will actually be my first time getting published, so I’m really excited!

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

Right now I’m helping promote for the anthology “When Glints Collide.” It’s set to publish next month, so I’ve been spreading the word all over facebook and twitter!

What’s the elevator pitch?

“Alien Worlds and accidental time travel. Talking plants and nighttime showers. Ghost stories and bloody anklets.

Body harvesting and post-apocalyptic wastelands. Big bushy beards and sour dreams. Shadowy men in black suits and claustrophobic drunks. These are just a few of the many frighteningly strange and weird tales found within these pages.”

How long have you been working on it?

I was asked to be a part of this project back in June, or July, I believe.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

It’ll be released to the public in early October. The link where you’ll be able to order one will be up on the Fluky Fiction Facebook Page!

How can readers follow you?

Anything you’d like to add?

I’m extremely excited for this project and the many to come, so spread the word and give lots of support- not just to myself, but to the other amazing authors as well!

My heartfelt thanks to Sarah Sylvester for taking the time to participate in this interview for the Laughably Inane Blog, and best wishes to her future writing endeavors.
