Who are you?

I'm Ben Ireland -- Author of books, destroyer of worlds, professional daydreamer.

Where do you live?

Currently in Utah. Previously in Texas. Originally from Australia.

What’s your home life like?

By day i'm an IT guy. I like it because I get to swing in and save the day, technologically speaking, on a regular basis.

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

I've written fantasy, cyber-horror, but I'm currently working on the urban fantasy series Billy Blacksmith.
I like reading anything that's well-written.

Why did you start writing?

Reading was such a huge part of surviving my teenage years, I wanted to give back to the universe and write a book that I would have loved to have as a kid.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Think about writing, but in a way so my wife doesn't notice.
She does.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

HideAway Books in American Fork is a gem.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

Usually when I finish the last page.
I did quit one book recently when they had just finished their fifth conveniently over-heard conversation, and were planning to go overhear one on purpose.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Both. My cyber-horror series Kingdom City was published by Xychler publishing. I'm self publishing Billy Blacksmith because I feel like the Billyverse is so huge I don't want pragmatism to get in the way.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

2 Kingdom Citys, 3.5 Billy Blacksmiths and 2 short stories.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

Currently promoting Bleakwood Lore, book 3.5 of 8 in the Billy Blacksmith series.
Currently working on the as-yet untitled, book 4.

What’s the elevator pitch?

For the series:
Billy is your average teenager, but a little taller and chubbier than most. One night a 300 pound spider emerges from under his bed intent on drinking his blood.

His day gets worse from there.

How long have you been working on it?

Billy came to me about 2015? Maybe.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

You can buy the series to date, here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B6SFWQD
But Amazon hasn't figured out how to combine book 3.5 into the series, so the link to Bleakwood Lore is: https://amzn.to/2ZkKO4q

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

What inspires me to keep writing is that i'm almost 4 books deep into an 8 part series, and I can't stop now. It would just be bad form.

Many thanks to Ben for participating in My Laughably Inane Blog. I wish him all the best has he continues to bring his words to readers everywhere.

Sincerely,

Nicholas P. Adams

Just a small-town boy with an overactive imagination.
