Who are you?

I'm BATMAN.
Okay, no, not really. But have you ever seen me and Batman in the same room? Just saying.
Hi everyone! I'm Jodi L. Milner, young adult fantasy author and loudest introvert on the internet. I like hiding chocolate in my desk, cute socks, and currently, the Dragon Prince.

Where do you live?

In Gotham, duh. Nicholas might add that I'm actually currently living in the plushy comforts of Arkham Asylum, but I digress. In real life, I live in the Greater Salt Lake area of Utah.

What’s your home life like?

Have you ever raised monkeys? No? I have back in the day when I worked as a vet tech. I'm here to tell you that raising kids is much, much harder. And it's not just because you can't keep them in cages.

I've just been informed by HR that I shouldn't keep comparing the kiddos to monkeys, especially now that some of them are teenagers.

Now they're feral honey badgers.

Lately, I've enjoyed spending as much time out in my yard as possible.

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

Anything that's super distracting is very welcome. I'm partial to great magic, creative worlds, and plenty of drama.

As for reading, I'll read anything that's well written. Extra bonus points to anything that is also beautifully written. Gorgeous prose makes me very happy.

Why did you start writing?

See the above comment about the monkeys, erm, honey badgers. Writing gives me a safe outlet for all the frustrations that build up over the course of the day. Contrary to popular opinion, and my coffee mug, I don't put people in books and then kill them. Yet.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

It's mostly limited to keeping the house and everyone in it alive and well maintained. But ... should the opportunity present itself I love learning new things, like how to get out of this straight jacket. Typing with a big toe is crazy hard, but it gives me less of a headache than using my nose.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

I literally haven't looked for a new book in ages, not because they don't let them in the asylum, but because my poor kindle is full to the rafters with books fellow authors have written (and the occasional library book to see what the rest of the world is doing).

Wait, does reading fanfiction count? That's my favorite indulgence reading. Fellow A03 fans, hello!

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I'm no quitter! Unless it's really bad, and even then, most books have at least something that redeems them. What usually happens with books I'm not crazy about is I have to turn them back into the library before I finish and then I never pick them up again.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I'm officially a hybrid author now! Woot. All that means is that I manage the production work on my novels instead of working with a small press. It's faster, better, and in the end I get a product I'm proud of.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

Two novels and six short stories, with many more in the works.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

Stonebearer's Apprentice is the sequel to Stonebeare's Betrayal and is part of the Shadow Barrier Trilogy.

What’s the elevator pitch?

No monster has ever set foot inside the stronghold of Amul Dun.
Until now.
A traitor hides within its walls with orders to destroy Katira, her father, and the world they have sacrificed so much to save.
Wrothe is not as defeated as everyone believed. She plots her revenge even while banished to the other side of the shadow barrier.
Amul Dun's only hope lies within a dying man’s last words.
Katira’s only hope lies in mastering the power of the Khandashii. Without guidance, it will kill her. Her apprenticeship tests not only her strength and courage, but her determination to do what is necessary as well.
If she fails to master her power she won’t be able to protect the people she’s come to love against Wrothe. She can’t let that happen, not again.

How long have you been working on it?

On and off for about five years.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

The official release date is June 12 on Amazon.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

"Failure is an option, quitting is not"
Dean Wesley Smith

Anything you’d like to add?

Could someone kindly loosen the straight jacket now,? It's just a little too snug around my, well, everything.

Anyone?

(Thanks for having me on your blog!)
