Who are you?

My name is Roberta Glacken and I am an author of The Christmas Carrolls books and Short Stories for Young Adults. I was a cook for many years, but have decided to finally make writing my life and get these stories out of my head to share with the world.

Where do you live?

Pocomoke City, Maryland, USA

What’s your home life like?

I'm on Social Security, so I pretty much either write all day or take classes online. No matter what I'm doing, it's always pertaining to a story...even when I sleep. I write those dreams down when I wake up...lol

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

All kinds. It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I want comedy. Other times, horror. It's like asking what's my favorite food...it's a matter of how I'm feeling at the moment

Why did you start writing?

I have always had stories in my head. There are times when I could literally sit in my living room without the TV on and just stare into the abyss and "watch" my stories in my head. It sounds insane, I know, but that's me. So I decided to write some of them down on paper.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I love to bake and cook. But mostly I am either writing, learning more about being an author or thinking about what story or chapter to write next.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

Amazon or Twitter. There are a lot of talented indie authors on Twitter at the moment, I just don't have the time to read them all.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I'll give it 2 or 3 chapters to see if it gets interesting. If it does, then I will not sleep until I'm finished. I read the Green Mile in one sitting..lol

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Independent

How many books/stories have you published so far?

The magic number 3. Though I have ideas for 5 more that I haven't written yet.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

The Christmas Carrolls books 1 and 2.

What’s the elevator pitch?

When mistaken identity causes 2 young adults, Jacob and Lizzie, to fall in love and get married, they realize that their unborn child is to become the one and only Santa Claus. But is it the child she is pregnant with or is it the little boy who haunts the 3rd floor of the old, abandoned children's shelter that they now call home? How will Jacob explain it to his high society mother, who holds secrets of her own.

How long have you been working on it?

I've had this story in my brain for about 15 years now, but only took about 1 month to write. I dedicate at least 10-12 hours a day to writing.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

It's available now on Amazon and Goodreads.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

I try to create sympathy for my characters, then turn the monsters loose.

Stephen King
First, find out what your hero wants, then just follow him!
Ray Bradbury

Anything you’d like to add?

Just that at the age of 47, I decided to follow my dream. If I can do it, anyone can. I'm not saying that writing is easy, nor is expressing yourself, but if you give yourself a little bit of lead way, you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish.

Many thanks to Roberta for joining my Laughably Inane Blog. She proves you're never too old to pursue a dream. I wish her all the best in her writing and personal endeavors.

Sincerely,

Nicholas P. Adams

Just a small-town boy with an overactive imagination.
