Who are you?

Sammie Trinidad

Where do you live?

Utah

What’s your home life like?

I am actually about to move in with a roommate. Life has definitely given me a curve ball as I recently got divorced last year so I am now adjusting to the single life again. I lived at home for a few months and it was quite interesting to live with family again. Love them. And grateful for those months we spent together.

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

I love writing magical realism, fantasy, and contemporary. Some science fiction. Short fiction and creative nonfiction. Lately I’ve been drawn to reading contemporary stories, historical, and memoirs. But I will always have a special place for fantasy and science fiction.

Why did you start writing?

Writing felt like it was in my soul. A calling rather than something I actively wanted to do. But I started writing with the intent to publish because I feel like stories are some of the most powerful ways to make a difference and to spark imagination to people. I also strongly believe that everyone has a place and should be heard. Stories can help us do that.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Hiking, MMA, walking, being with family, watching tv shows, working, studying craft, dancing, singing, playing guitar or piano or violin.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

Goodreads or other people. Sometimes amazon.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I typically finish reading all the books because I read fast.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Traditionally.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

4 short stories. 1 book out for submission with editors and agents.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

My historical fantasy.

What’s the elevator pitch?

A Filipina Wonder Woman who accidentally caused the Philippine Revolution.

How long have you been working on it?

A few years.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

Unsure as it’s still in the process of submission.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

Well, I am a Slytherin so I just tell myself that I am just as worthy and capable of massive success as anyone else. But also, I think writing for who I choose to be my target audience helps. Having a bigger purpose and understanding that writing is meant to be fun and creative helps get me through the hard times.

Anything you’d like to add?

If you’re a writer, keep going. The world needs your words. It needs your voice and your stories. If you’re a person, keep reading and consuming story. Because stories change the world and they keep us alive.

Many thanks to Sammie Trinidad for participating in My Laughably Inane Blog. I wish her all the best in her writing endeavors.
